However, for those who need a massive calorie boost to pack on the mass that they desire, this Russian Bear Mass Gainer seems like a solid option. But how does it stand up to scrutiny?

I decided to create a full Vitol Russian Bear 5000 Weight Gainer review to find out more about this nutrient-dense formula so that I could assess its weight gain effectiveness.

This Russian Bear 5000 Weight Gainer is loaded with calories and other mass-building ingredients, some of which you won’t find in other mass gainers.

We’ll examine the specific ingredients in the next section of this Russian Bear 500 Weight Gainer review, but for now, let’s look at the nutritional information.

Each 181-gram serving (3 scoops) contains:

  • 752 calories
  • 141g of carbs
  • 137g of sugar
  • 4g of fibre
  • 40g of protein
  • 5g of fat
  • Vitamins A, B6, B12, C, D3, and E
  • Thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, folate, biotin, and pantothenic acid
  • Calcium, iron, iodine, magnesium, manganese, copper, zinc, chromium, and sodium

As you can see, this Russian Bear weight gainer has plenty of calories, carbs, and protein for gaining weight. However, with most of those carbohydrates coming from sugar, this mass gainer might not be for everyone.

Russian Bear 5000 Weight Gainer Ingredients

The ingredients that make up Russian Bear Weight Gainer 5000 are split into a Protein Blend, a Pro-Growth Metabolic Formula, and a Digestive Enzyme blend. This is in addition to the vitamins, minerals, and carbohydrates.

Protein Blend

The protein blend consists of milk solids, whey concentrate, and egg whites, giving you a broad spectrum of amino acids for muscle growth.

What I like about this particular protein combination is that we’re getting both fast and slow-digesting protein sources, which helps your muscles to stay in an anabolic state for longer.

40g of protein is also an ideal amount to consume after a workout to maximise muscle protein synthesis and kickstart hypertrophy, so you can tell that the protein part of this weight gainer has really been thought through.

Carbohydrates

As mentioned, this Russian weight gain powder has 141g of carbs per serving, which gives you plenty of additional calories for gaining weight.

However, 137g of those carbohydrates come from dextrose, which is sugar.

This might be enough to put a lot of people off, but did you know that dextrose really isn’t that different from the maltodextrin that’s included in virtually any other weight gainer?

Dextrose tastes sweeter than maltodextrin, but both carb sources provide rapid post-workout glycogen replenishment and are ultimately converted into glucose—like all carbohydrates.

So, in a sense, you could say that consuming fast-acting carbs after a workout and really spiking your insulin levels is a good thing because it will speed up muscle glycogen resynthesis.

Still, it’s not a good idea to get the majority of your carbs from sugar or sugar substitutes, which is why I say that this Russian mass gainer isn’t necessarily for everyone.

Pro-Growth Metabolic Formula

If you’re looking for a unique mass gainer—one that will start conversations in the gym—then this Russian weight gainer might be the one for you.

Each serving contains bovine colostrum, which is the milk produced by cows shortly after giving birth. It strengthens your immune system, your digestive system, and promotes muscle growth, making it a no-brainer in any pro-growth formula.

Tribulus terrestris extract is the next ingredient. While opinions differ, this natural, plant-derived herb is thought to increase testosterone production, helping you to lift heavier weights and experience greater muscle growth.

This Vitol Russian Bear Mass Gainer also contains ​​eleuthero extract, which may have the ability to improve your endurance and stamina. So while it might not help you gain weight directly, being able to do more reps in the gym could lead to more muscle growth over time.

Like tribulus terrestris, yohimbe bark extract is often used as a male aphrodisiac. However, some bodybuilders also believe that yohimbe bark helps with fat loss (hence the metabolic component of this pro-growth blend), although the evidence doesn’t seem particularly strong. 

The next ingredient in this Russian Bear Weight Gainer 5000 is deer antler velvet, which is thought to increase athletic performance, helping you lift harder and heavier in the gym, which ultimately leads to more mass gain.

The final ingredient in this Pro-Growth Metabolic Blend is yet another aphrodisiac—tongkat ali extract—that may increase testosterone levels. This herbal supplement may also decrease stress levels, which could lead to better recovery, helping you to grow more muscle.

Digestive Enzymes Blend

As I mentioned earlier in my Russian Bear Weight Gainer review, this supplement is very calorie-dense. As such, it might be too much for some people.

However, thanks to the digestive enzyme blend—papain, protease, lactase—your body will be better able to utilise all of the ingredients that you’re consuming, which means less wasted nutrition.

Russian Bear Weight Gainer Results and Benefits

If you read any Vitol Russian Bear 5000 Weight Gainer reviews from users, then you’ll see that a lot of people are reporting great gains from drinking these high-calorie shakes.

Interestingly, people report gaining mostly muscle mass rather than a bunch of fat. This makes sense because, if you’re sensible with this mass gainer (more on that later), it can become the equivalent of an extra meal, which can be just when you need to gain muscle mass.

Gains of a few pounds in a couple of weeks are not uncommon, and people have even gained 5 lbs in the first week. Over the course of a couple of months, some lifters have even bulked up by 10 to 20 lbs, which is very impressive indeed (and probably not possible for everyone).

So while your Russian Bear weight gainer results will differ based on your starting point and overall calorie intake, it’s clear that this supplement actually works as claimed, which is to say that it puts your body in a calorie surplus so that you can increase your body weight.

Russian Bear Mass Gainer Taste and Mixability

One thing that virtually all Russian Bear mass gainer reviews agree on is that this supplement tastes good. And with 137g of sugar per serving, I would hope so!

That’s right; this weight gainer tastes great; it really does. But that’s purely because of the sugar.

Unlike maltodextrin, which tastes very bland, sugar—I think we can all agree—tastes good. This means that this Russian Bear Mass Gainer doesn’t need to rely on artificial sweeteners for flavouring, which results in a much nicer shake for drinking.

The mixability is also very good, meaning that you’re unlikely to get any lumps or clumps in your gainer, which again enhances the drinkability of the shake. I think one reason why the mixability is so good is that you’re advised to use 48 oz of water or milk (1.363 litres) with 181g of powder, which is a very high liquid-to-powder ratio.

How to Take Russian Bear 5000 Weight Gainer

Vitol suggests using their Russian Bear Weight Gainer 5000 in two different ways (neither of which I recommend myself).

The first option they give is to have 1 scoop three times per day. And while these calories will certainly add up throughout the day, my worry would be the lack of protein in each scoop. Since 3 scoops give you 40g of protein, a single scoop is just over 13g of protein, which, on its own, isn’t enough to stimulate—let alone maximise—muscle protein synthesis.

The simple fix, of course, is to just drink 3 scoops of your Russian Bear Weight Gainer as either a post-workout shaker or an extra meal, giving you an additional 752 daily calories.

Now here’s where things get a bit crazy.

Vitol says that you can mix 8 scoops with one gallon of whole milk to get 5000 calories, which they recommend drinking throughout the day rather than in one go.

To be fair, this is just a suggested usage. But considering that most people bulk on less than 5000 calories, you certainly don’t want to be drinking an extra 5000 liquid calories per day—especially considering the amount of sugar in this supplement.

Russian Bear Weight Gainer Side Effects

While there are hundreds of positive Vitol Russian Bear 5000 Weight Gainer reviews, it’s possible that this supplement could have some side effects.

First of all, this Russian Bear mass gainer contains yohimbe, which has been linked with increased blood pressure and anxiety. Furthermore, yohimbe supplements are notorious for being incorrectly dosed, meaning that you could accidentally take too much (I’m not saying this is the case with Russian Bear Weight Gainer, but it’s something to keep in mind).

Second, as I said in my Russian Bear Mass Gainer review, this supplement contains a lot of sugar, which could lead to an energy crash after drinking it. Consuming too much sugar is unhealthy, so it’s important to keep your overall intake in check if you do decide to take this Russian weight gain powder.

Also, like any mass gainer, this Russian weight gainer could cause you to gain too much fat, so make sure to keep an eye on your overall calorie surplus when drinking any kind of high-calorie shake.

Finally, because of its high-calorie and high-protein content, this Russian mass gainer might cause a bit of stomach discomfort for some people, especially those who aren’t used to drinking weight gainers or who have poor lactose tolerance.

Will This Russian Bear Mass Gainer Bulk You Up?

As I’ve maintained throughout my Vitol Russian Bear 5000 Weight Gainer review, this supplement will definitely help you to bulk up. So the question, really, is should you take it?

I’d say it’s worth a try if you’re looking for a mass gainer that’s quite different to the rest. This Russian Bear Mass Gainer has a lot of ingredients that are associated with increased testosterone, so it could be a promising muscle-building option.

Personally, I prefer mass gainers with lower sugar and no added extras because I see weight gainers as a convenient source of calories—if I want extra ingredients, I’ll buy and take them separately thank you very much.

Still, for those seeking a potent weight gain formula, I won’t deny that this Russian Bear Weight Gainer ticks the boxes. I wouldn’t use it forever due to the high sugar content, but in the short term, it could provide you with the gains that you’re looking for.
