This Time 4 Nutrition Mass Gainer review will take a look at the taste, mixability, and ingredient effectiveness of this UK-made gainer.

With time-release proteins, quality carbs, and 4 types of creatine, Time 4 Mass Gain certainly seems promising. But as with all of my reviews, I decided to put the brand’s claims to the test by conducting my own investigation.

What Is Time 4 Nutrition Mass Gainer?

Time 4 Mass Gain is a weight gainer that has 393 calories per 100g serving when mixed with water, making it a very calorie-dense nutritional shake.

With 50g of carbs, 36g of protein, and 5g of fat, Time 4 Mass Gain has great macros for building muscle. So many other gainers make you pay for a bunch of cheap carbs that you don’t need, but Time 4 Mass Gain has an excellent carbs-to-protein ratio for packing on quality mass.

This Time 4 Nutrition weight gainer also includes 4 types of creatine, which is probably the most studied and reliable sports supplement in history.

Available in either 2.5 kg or 4.5 kg tubs, Time 4 Mass Gain offers pretty good value for money, with between 25 and 45 shakes per tub.

How Does Time 4 Mass Gain Work?

Time 4 Mass Gain works by increasing your calorie intake so that your body enters an energy (or calorie) surplus. With an excess of energy at its disposal, your body can effectively put on muscle mass and become stronger.

Since Time 4 Mass Gain includes a blend of whey and casein protein, it’s very effective at keeping your body in an anabolic (growing) state because whey and casein have differing absorption speeds.

In the short term, whey is more anabolic than casein because it provides a bigger protein synthesis spike. However, casein stimulates protein synthesis for a longer period of time. So, after the whey has done its job, you’re still getting drip-fed amino acids from the casein protein.

It’s a similar story with the carbs. The Maltodextrin gives you quick energy and efficient muscle glycogen replenishment, whereas the waxy maize starch digests more slowly and gives you a steady supply of energy over a longer period of time.

Time 4 Mass Gain also has a functional fat blend consisting of MCTs and flaxseed, creating a sensible macronutrient profile—carb-heavy and protein-dense, but not needlessly low in fat.

To top it all off, Time 4 Mass Gain boasts a creatine blend that has not 1, not 2, not even 3, but 4 different types of creatine—monohydrate, gluconate, nitrate, and ethyl ester.

Some of these forms, such as creatine gluconate and creatine ethyl ester, are hypothesised to have better absorption than regular monohydrate. So, while there’s no definitive consensus, these fancy forms of creatine could well provide an extra benefit.

How Does Time 4 Mass Gain Mix and Taste?

This Time 4 Nutrition Mass Gainer mixes really well and tastes pretty good. I really have no complaints with regard to the flavour!

While I do think that the likes of the All Blacks Mass Gain Protein Blend from Healthspan have an edge in the taste department, this supplement is still very much drinkable.

I’ve tested a bunch of different mass gainers, and I can confidently say that Time 4 Mass Gain is much tastier than average. But as with anything subjective, opinions are going to differ, so I can’t 100% guarantee that you’ll like the taste.

As long as you use the recommended 500 ml of water to mix your 2 heaped scoops (100g of powder), this shake will mix just fine in a shaker bottle, meaning that you don’t need to use a blender, unless you want to be on the safe side or add extras to your shakes for more calories, such as peanut butter

Is Time 4 Mass Gain Good Value?

Although Time 4 Mass Gain isn’t quite as calorie-loaded as some of the other weight gainers, it still boasts a great nutritional profile that’s capable of triggering new muscle growth and weight gain.

It has a similar amount of calories to PE Nutrition Weight Gainer, which is another great supplement for gaining weight.

Depending on which size tub you get, you’ll have either 25 or 45 servings, which could be a month’s supply for some people.

Also, since Time 4 Nutrition isn’t a massive international brand, I find that their prices are very reasonable compared to some of the bigger names in the industry, such as if you use Huel for weight gain.

Are There Any Downsides To Time 4 Nutrition Mass Gainer?

To keep my Time 4 Mass Gain review fair, I wanted to talk about the potential downsides of the supplement as well as the benefits.

The reason I say potential downsides is because they’re subjective. I’ll show you what I mean.

Time 4 Nutrition Weight Gainer

While 393 calories per shake are enough for many people, some hardgainer could probably benefit from a higher-calorie supplement. Sure, you could just double up on servings or have two shakes a day, but that means you’d burn through a tub twice as quickly.

Additionally, the other forms of creatine are not as well-researched as monohydrate. So, if you want to play it safe, then you might prefer a gainer that only contains creatine monohydrate.

Other than those potential downsides (depending on your point of view), there’s not really anything negative to say about this Time 4 Nutrition weight gainer.

What’s The Verdict on this Time 4 Nutrition Weight Gainer?

With great macros for bulking—50g of carbs, 36g of protein, 5g of fat—Time 4 Nutrition Mass Gain is a solid supplement for putting on weight without getting fat. In this sense, it's a good alternative to the mega-calorie gainers that are available (and which do have their place).

The combination of whey and casein is highly effective because it provides your muscles with a more diverse range (and a more consistent supply) of amino acids.

While some people may have preferred pure creatine monohydrate, the additional forms of creatine could well prove beneficial. So, on the whole, my Time 4 Nutrition review is positive because there aren’t really many negatives with Time 4 Mass Gain.
