PBN Weight Gainer first caught my eye when I was browsing Amazon for new supplements to test. To date, I’ve already tried and tested 65 different mass gainers, so I think I have a good eye for which supplements are worth buying.

What first struck me about PBN Mass Gainer (before tasting it or looking at the ingredients) was the price; this weight gainer is really cheap. So is it all too good to be true?

I decided to try the product for myself and create a full PBN Weight Gainer review to see just how effective—and tasty—this Premium Body Nutrition mass gainer really is.

PBN Weight Gainer Nutrition Information

Ok, so the price of this mass gainer is on point. But how about the ingredients? After all, who wants to pay even a penny for a bunch of sugar and soy protein?

A tub of Premium Body Nutrition Mass Gainer

Thankfully for our gains, the PBN mass gainer ingredient list is just as good as the price. Here’s what you get per 334g serving:

  • 1280 calories
  • 261g of carbs
  • 50g of protein
  • 3.8g of fat
  • 2.6g of sugar
  • 9.7g of BCAAs
  • 3g of creatine
  • 500mg of glutamine
  • Around 23 vitamins and minerals
  • Digestive enzymes

Overall, that’s a pretty solid ingredient list. And for the price, I really can’t complain too much.

Is half a gram of glutamine a bit stingy? Yes, definitely.

Would 5 grams of creatine have been better than 3 grams? Yes, it would.

Is 50g of protein for 1280 calories slightly on the low side? Perhaps.

But honestly, I wasn’t expecting perfection at this price. This PBN weight gainer is just as good as many of the big-name mass gainer brands, yet it costs less than half the price.

PBN Weight Gainer Ingredient Quality

So, the numbers look good. But are the ingredients actually going to help you add mass to your frame?

Let’s start with protein. This PBN mass gainer has 50g of protein, consisting of whey concentrate, micellar casein and egg albumin.

As any bodybuilder will tell you, this protein combination is optimal for muscle growth because you’re getting both fast-acting (whey) and slow-digesting protein (egg and casein). As a result, you can stay in an anabolic state for longer because your muscles are receiving a consistent supply of amino acids.

This Premium Body Nutrition weight gainer is very hardgainer-friendly because it contains a whopping 261g of carbs per serving, almost as many as MuscleTech 100% Mass Gainer. This amount of carbohydrates is ideal for gaining weight because it will easily put most people in a calorie surplus, which is essential for bulking up.

On the strength side of things, there are 3 grams of creatine, which is a decent dose. Most people, however, will do better with a full 5g dose, so you might want to take a couple of grams of creatine separately if you decide to use PBN weight gainer.

The aftermath of my review of PBN Weight Gainer

You could always read my Nutrisport Weight Gainer review if you’re interested in a mass gainer that has all the creatine you need.

I also like how there are digestive enzymes included in the formula. While any shake that contains over 1200 calories is likely to sit quite heavy on your stomach, especially initially, these digestive enzymes will help your body to make good use of all the nutrients that you’re getting from this PBN mass gainer.

Finally, we have a selection of around 23 vitamins and minerals (If I counted correctly). While I prefer getting my vitamins and minerals from whole foods, it’s good to have extra micronutrients in your diet when you’re consuming lots of calories and training hard in the gym.

How Effective Is PBN Weight Gainer For Bulking Up?

Providing that you’re following an appropriate weight training program and drink PBN weight gainer consistently, it’s very effective for bulking up.

With 1280 calories per serving, you can expect to gain weight within the first few weeks of using this Premium Body Nutrition Mass Gainer.

Obviously, you can’t expect a complete body transformation in only a few weeks—that takes months. However, PBN weight gainer does exactly what it says on the tin and that is to provide a quality calorie surplus to help you gain the weight that you desire.

Now, if you’re trying to lean bulk and gain as little body fat as possible, then you’ll probably do better with a lower-calorie weight gainer. In this regard, you could always see my Pro Power Weight Gainer review for a slightly different option that’s in the same price range.

PBN Mass Gainer Taste and Mixing

Ok, here’s where we get a bit subjective.

While we can all agree that protein is essential for building muscle mass, people are naturally going to have different opinions on supplement flavours.

A man making a PBN Mass Gainer shake

So, after trying the chocolate flavour, I can say that, for me, the taste is good but not great. In other words, I wasn’t blown away.

Mixing it with milk did improve the taste, and the shakes were still definitely drinkable when mixed with water. But It’s not the kind of weight gainer that I’d get excited about drinking.

So, in terms of taste, I’d say average.

Now for mixing. In a blender, this PBN mass gainer mixes with no problem. However, when I used a shaker cup, I did get a bit of clumping (and I shook my shaker bottle pretty hard).

To be fair, though, with 334g of powder, Premium Body Nutrition mass gainer was never going to mix easily in a standard shaker bottle.

Pretty much any mass gainer this voluminous needs to be mixed in an electric blender or by someone with strongman-sized arms.

Overall, in terms of taste and mixing, PBN weight gainer passes the test, but it’s not top of the class.

Premium Body Nutrition Weight Gainer Price

While there are better mass gainers on the market (trust me, I’ve tried nearly 70 at this point), few products can rival this Premium Body Nutrition weight gainer in the pricing department.

For about the cost of a month’s gym membership, you can order a large 3kg tub of PBN weight gainer.

And while you only get 9 servings per tub, a month’s supply (about 3 tubs) still works out at quite a reasonable cost, especially compared to the more well-known weight gainers.

You can, of course, just use half a serving at a time, especially if you’re just trying to gain weight in general and not bulk up like a bodybuilder.

However, to enjoy the best effects of this PBN mass gainer, I recommend taking one full serving every day—even on rest days.

After all, when you’re resting, your muscles are repairing and (hopefully) growing, so they can really make use of those extra proteins, carbs, and calories that PBN weight gainer provides.

Should You Buy Premium Body Nutrition Weight Gainer For Bulking?

A large PBN Weight Gainer tub in chocolate flavour

If you’re bulking on a budget and still want to get a mass gainer that will assist with your weight gain efforts, then I think that PBN weight gainer is a good option.

Although a bit more creatine and glutamine would have been the icing on the cake, there isn’t much room for complaining, given the very low price point of this product.

However, if your calorie requirement isn’t extremely high, you might want to look elsewhere for a lower-calorie formula. With 261g of carbs and 1280 calories, this mass gainer is designed for those with fast metabolisms who struggle to put on weight, which isn’t everyone.

Overall, though, my PBN weight gainer review is a positive one. While not the perfect supplement, it’s worth a try for those who want to gain weight without spending a fortune.
