52.8g Protein Blend

The Optimum Health Ultimate Gainer nutrition facts

This Optimum Health Weight Gainer provides you with a generous 52.8g of both fast-acting and sustained-release protein per serving—whey protein concentrate, whey protein isolate, hydrolysed where protein, and micellar casein.

This combination of milk proteins ensures a balanced delivery of fast-acting and slow-release amino acids to feed your muscles throughout the day, ensuring optimal muscle protein synthesis (MPS) levels.

Unlike other gainers in this price range, Optimum Health Gainer doesn’t include any low-quality protein or cheap filler amino acids. So, even though you’re not paying a lot, you’re still getting a top-quality gainer that can rival the market leaders.

More on value for money later in my Optimum Health Mass Gain Pro review.

191.4g Of Fast-Acting And Slow-Release Carbs

The Optimum Health Ultimate Gainer ingredients

Each serving of this UK-exclusive Optimum Health Mass Gainer delivers 191.4g of carbohydrates, made up of fast-acting and slow-release carbs.

This balanced carb blend consists of dextrose, maltodextrin, waxy maize starch, and oats, providing your body with instant fuel during workouts and a steady release of energy throughout the day.

Consuming enough carbs is crucial for gaining weight, but that can be hard to do through regular meals, so it’s great to have a convenient and tasty (more on that later) gainer available for that extra carb and calorie boost.

14g Of Fat For Balanced Macros

Optimum Health Ultimate Mass Gain Pro

Optimum Health Ultimate Gainer includes 14g of fat per serving from flaxseed and MCTs (coconut oils). These healthy fats play a crucial role in providing you with energy, supporting hormone production, and maintaining good health.

Drinking a weight gainer with balanced macros (i.e., not extremely low fat) assists in keeping your diet in check, aiding your efforts to gain weight and build bigger muscles.

While getting enough fat is important, some supplements, such as Hectic Sports Mass Gainer, include so much fat that it hinders protein absorption. Thankfully, Optimum Health Ultimate Mass Gain Pro includes just the right amount of healthy fats.

11g Of BCAAs For Muscle Protein Synthesis

Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) play a key role in muscle protein synthesis, and Ultimate Gainer supplies you with 11.4g of BCAAs per serving. The BCAAs are leucine, isoleucine, and valine, which work synergistically to stimulate muscle growth and aid in your recovery.

3g Of Creatine For Strength

A bag of Optimum Health Ultimate Gainer

Lastly, Optimum Health Ultimate Gainer includes 3g of creatine monohydrate per serving, which is known for its ability to increase muscle strength and boost performance. Creatine helps your muscles produce more energy during high-intensity workouts, allowing you to lift heavier weights, perform more repetitions, and ultimately improve your strength.

And while 3g is a decent dose—enough for many people—I would have preferred a full 5g dose, which many researchers believe to be optimal. Thankfully, you can easily make up the shortfall with a small amount of extra creatine, which is really cheap these days. More on that later in this Optimum Health Ultimate Gainer Review.

Optimum Health Ultimate Gainer Taste and Mixability

Optimum Health Ultimate Mass Gain Pro is available in the 4 classic milkshake flavours; chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and banana.

A serving of Optimum Health Gainer

I went for the chocolate flavour, and I was surprised at how nice the taste was. Don’t get me wrong; it wasn’t perfection. But I really enjoyed drinking my shakes with both milk and water.

The chocolate flavour was just sweet enough to be enjoyable but not soo sweet that it was overpowering or excessive.

As for mixability, I didn’t experience any clumping, which is always a plus. When I used the full 300g of powder (6 scoops), my shaker was pretty full, so you might need to invest in a larger shaker bottle or use a blender if you want to get a thinner consistency.

Personally, I like my mass gainers thick, so I don’t mind if the shake is slightly gritty (this wasn’t, but you know what I mean).

Obviously, you can split those 6 scoops into two or three servings for even better mixability, which is ideal if you want to consume your shakes between meals.

How To Use Optimum Health Ultimate Gainer For Great Results

To get the most out of Optimum Health Ultimate Gainer, follow these simple tips to achieve your desired weight gain and muscle-building goals:

Optimum Health Weight Gainer
  1. Find your ideal serving size: While you can certainly take 6 scoops at once for a big hit of nutrition, you can also split your servings up so that you don’t feel as full. This is a particularly good idea if you like to drink your shakes between meals.
  2. Mix it well: Any mass gainer requires vigorous shaking to mix into a smooth liquid. Also, for best results, pour the liquid into your shaker bottle before adding the powder.
  3. Timing matters: To maximise the benefits of using Ultimate Gainer, consume it strategically—right after a workout, between meals, or before bed. This allows your body to utilise the additional nutrients for muscle recovery and growth during key periods.
  4. Combine with a balanced diet: While Ultimate Gainer can help you reach your weight gain goals, it's essential to maintain a balanced diet consisting of whole foods like fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins. After all, your body needs a diverse nutrient intake to support overall health and muscle function.
  5. Exercise regularly: To see fantastic results, it's crucial to lift hard and heavy at least 3 times per week. This way, all of those additional nutrients can be partitioned towards muscle growth rather than fat gain, resulting in a more aesthetic physique.

Are There Any Drawbacks To Optimum Health Ultimate Gainer?

Optimum Health Ultimate Mass Gain Pro is an effective supplement for those looking to gain weight and build muscle mass. However, you should know a few potential drawbacks before incorporating this gainer into your supplement regimen.

Optimum Health Ultimate Gainer beside a shaker bottle and a scoop

Firstly, it's important to note that Ultimate Gainer contains creatine. While some lifters appreciate the convenience of having creatine included in their mass gainer, others prefer to take it separately to have better control over their intake.

Additionally, as with any mass gainer, it's essential to monitor your overall calorie intake so that you don’t overeat. Consuming an excessive amount of Ultimate Gainer (or any mass gainer) could lead to unwanted fat gain. Obviously, some fat gain is part and parcel of successful bulking, so don’t be afraid to wave goodbye to your abs for a bit.

Besides that, this Optimum Health weight gainer has everything going for it. It’s quite similar to GTN Mass Gainer but with a better protein-to-carbs ratio (and it’s more affordable).

Should You Give It A Try?

Closeup of Optimum Health Mass Gainer

If you're looking to gain weight effectively and don’t want to shell out for a big-name mass gainer, Optimum Health Ultimate Mass Gain Pro might be just the supplement for you.

It has an ideal ratio of carbs to protein for bulking, meaning that you can put on quality mass as efficiently as possible. All you need to do is lift and drink your shakes consistently (even on rest days, which is when you’re growing).

As with any mass gainer, a single bag of this Optimum Health gainer might not go as far as you’d like. But that’s the reality of using weight gainers. You’re getting loads of protein and calories in each shake, which is obviously going to cost a bit. Still, it’s so much cheaper than the likes of Naked Mass Protein Powder.

That said, Ultimate Gainer by Optimum Health offers extraordinary value for money, and you can save 10% if you buy a few bags at a time.

I hope that you enjoyed reading my Optimum Health Ultimate Gainer review as much as I enjoyed writing it! Over the past 6 months, I’ve tried over 50 UK weight gainers, and I have to say, Optimum Health Ultimate Gainer is right up there with the best.
