Naked Mass Protein Powder Review: A Good Gainer?

With just 3-5 ingredients depending on the flavour, Naked Mass Protein Powder is certainly one of the purest weight gainers on the market. And with a price tag to match its quality, the question quickly becomes, is it actually worth the money?

I’ll give you my honest opinion on the effectiveness and value for money in my Naked Mass review, as well as my thoughts on the taste and mixability.

Naked Mass Protein Powder Nutrition Facts

Naked Mass Gainer might just have the most simple and straightforward nutritional profile of any weight gainer that I’ve tried. So while it might not appeal to hardcore bodybuilders, the clean ingredients will undoubtedly give you peace of mind if you’re as health-conscious as I am.

The difference between the unflavoured version and the chocolate and vanilla version is that the flavoured powders have 58g of sugar, whereas the unflavoured Naked Mass only has 21g of sugar.

Also, the chocolate version has 15g of fat (from the organic cacao powder, I presume), whereas the vanilla and unflavoured options have just 2.5g of fat.

To keep things simple, I’m going to list the nutrition facts for unflavored Naked Nutrition Naked Mass.

  • 21g of sugar
  • 1g of fibre
  • 2.5g of fat

Regardless of whether you’re willing to pay their price or not, one thing that you have to admire about Naked Nutrition is that they’re extremely open and honest about their supplements.

For example, many mass gainers are basically just a combination of cheap carbs and average-quality protein. However, this Naked Mass weight gain powder lists all of the individual amino acid dosages on the back of a tub for complete transparency.

Naked Mass Ingredients

As I said at the start of my Naked Mass protein powder review, this supplement provides very high-quality nutrition—there’s no denying that.

For example, whereas most gainers would just include whey, Naked Mass Gainer makes use of both whey and casein—for a total of 50g of grass-fed protein—so that you can build muscle for longer by getting a consistent supply of amino acids.

And with 11.5g of BCAAs per serving, you know that you’re getting top-quality protein that will provide a massive protein synthesis spike for muscle hypertrophy. 

Although high in grass-fed protein (from small US farms), Naked Mass Weight Gainer is definitely cab-heavy because it contains 251g of carbohydrates per serving, which are derived from organic tapioca maltodextrin, meaning that it’s GMO-free and also a gluten free mass gainer.

Unless you get Naked Mass Chocolate or Naked Mass Vanilla, sugar makes up less than 10% of the total carbohydrates, so you don’t need to worry about getting a big sugar crash after drinking this shake.

I also like that the ingredients are third-party tested for banned substances and impurities by Informed Choice. This gives Naked Mass Gainer another layer of authenticity and trust that lesser brands don’t necessarily have.

If you’re looking for a plant-based gainer, then Vegan Naked Mass is a good option, and it’s very similar to the regular Naked Mass Gainer in terms of calories.

Naked Mass Gainer Taste and Flavours

Should you get Unflavored Naked Mass or go for one of the flavoured options?

If you want to use Naked Mass Protein Powder to make your own weight gain smoothies, then the unflavoured version is a good option because it has a very neutral, non-chalky taste.

On the other hand, if you’re planning on mixing your Naked Mass Gainer with milk or water, then I’d go for either Naked Mass Chocolate or Naked Mass Vanilla because these flavours are tasty—not too strong and, best of all, not artificial.

Since Naked Mass is so calorie-dense, it results in quite a large shake, so I think having a chocolate or vanilla flavour to the powder would make drinking the shake a bit more exciting.

Obviously, as with any nutritional shake, opinions on the taste of Naked Nutrition Naked Mass are going to differ. What I will say from testing nearly 70 different mass gainers is that the flavours tend to grow on you the more you drink them. At least, that’s been my experience.

Naked Mass Weight Gainer Mixability and Digestability

With a 321g serving size (4 scoops), Naked Mass was never going to mix easily in a standard shake bottle. But honestly, this is just part of taking mass gainers. If you want a gainer that will fit in your shaker bottle, then you’ll need to get something with fewer calories, carbs, and protein.

Anyway, when you mix a full serving of Naked Mass in a blender with the recommended 24oz of liquid, it does mix really well with no clumps.

This is a great time to add in some Naked Creatine if you’re looking to gain muscle mass. You can add the creatine to the Naked Mass weight gain powder and blend it together, or you can make your Naked Gainer shake and then add your creatine, whichever is easiest for you.

With 1250 calories per serving, you’re definitely going to feel full after drinking Naked Mass, especially if you mix it with milk, which tends to thicken the shake up quite a lot.

But because this Naked Mass weight gainer uses only quality ingredients, it doesn’t make you feel horrible and completely sluggish after drinking it.

Now, if you’ve never drunk 1250 calories in a sitting before, then you might feel a bit lethargic and bloated after drinking Naked Mass, but this is the same for any weight gainer with 1,000+ calories.

How To Take Naked Mass For The Best Weight Gain Results

So, as we’ve established in this Naked Mass Gainer review, we have a truly awesome weight gainer on our hands. However, in order to get the best results from Naked Mass, you need to know when and how to take it.

Let me start by saying that if you just want to gain weight in general and don’t care about gaining muscle mass, you can take Naked Mass any time at all, whenever it's most convenient for you.

But if you want to bulk up and put on muscle mass, then I recommend using Naked Mass protein powder much more strategically. 

Instructions on how to use Naked Mass

Since your muscles are highly receptive to amino acids and glycogen after training, post-workout is an ideal time to take Naked Mass. This is especially true if you have a relatively low appetite after your hard workouts because, while you might not be able to eat a big meal, you can still drink a high-calorie shake to kickstart the muscle growth and repair process ASAP.

Between meals is another good time to drink Naked Mass because, with 1250 calories per shake, it’s basically like a massive meal in itself, meaning that you won’t be going too long between protein feedings, which helps to keep that muscle protein synthesis switch on and ignited.

You can definitely split your Naked Mass serving into two smaller shakes and consume them between meals (one of them could be your post-workout shake). This way, you’ll find the shakes easier to digest while also putting yourself in a position to take advantage of more frequent protein synthesis spikes.

I recommend having no more than one full Naked Gainer serving per day unless advised to do so by your doctor. The reason being is that Naked Mass is a weight gainer and not a meal replacement, meaning that it’s designed to be consumed in addition to your regular, wholefood meals and not in substitution of them.

Is Naked Mass Healthy?

One thing that virtually all Naked Mass reviews agree on is that Naked Mass is much healthier than your typical weight gainer. However, the degree to which Naked Mass Gainer is healthy depends on you.

Let me explain.

If you’re skinny and Naked Mass helps you to achieve a healthy body weight, then that’s an improvement in your health.

However, if you rush the weight gain process and use Naked Mass to create an excessive calorie surplus, then Naked Mass becomes unhealthy.

Obviously, unwanted fat gain isn't due to Naked Mass; it’s due to an excessive calorie surplus.

So as long as you use Naked Mass Weight Gainer responsibly, you definitely shouldn’t experience any side effects. After all, it’s free from GMOs, gluten, soy, and artificial ingredients.

If you’re based in the UK, then Optimum Health Ultimate Gainer is another good option. It can be quite expensive to ship Naked Mass outside of North America!

Should You Buy Naked Mass Protein Powder?

There are thousands of positive Naked Mass Protein Powder reviews, so surely that means you should get Naked Mass right now and start bulking up, right?

While Naked Mass Gainer is certainly a great option for many people, it only has 11 servings per container, meaning that you’d need around 3 tubs per month if you drank it every day. This would cost you over $200, which is quite a lot to spend monthly on just one supplement.

Yet, you can still get great gains from half a serving per day. And honestly, I’m not averse to splashing out on quality, third-party tested supplements like Naked Mass Weight Gainer if they produce results, which Naked Mass certainly does.

Overall, my Naked Mass review is very much a positive one. The formula is clean, the calories are high, and the taste is good. It’s definitely expensive, but it has everything you could want from a weight gainer (and none of the things that you don’t want).
