Mutant Mass nutrition facts UK
  • 1,100 calories: This calorie boost helps to support your muscle-building goals by providing energy and promoting weight gain.
  • 56 grams of protein: Acquired from a blend of whey and casein, these high-quality proteins stimulate robust hypertrophy to get you those gains.
  • 192 grams of carbohydrates: Providing energy during your workouts, replenishing glycogen levels post-workout, ensuring proper recovery, and putting your body in that all-important caloric surplus.
  • 12 grams of fat: This includes healthy fats from coconut oil, avocado, flaxseed, and pumpkin seed.
  • 26.1 grams of essential amino acids (EAAs): More essential aminos than pretty much any protein supplement, ideal for stimulating new muscle growth.
  • 12.2 grams of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs): Consisting of leucine, isoleucine, and valine, BCAAs help increase protein synthesis and muscle growth while reducing muscle soreness.
  • 10.4 grams of glutamine: This amino acid supports muscle growth, prevents muscle wasting, and bolsters the immune system.

As you can see, this Mutant Mass protein powder is absolutely packed with quality ingredients that will move the needle and increase your body weight if you drink your shakes consistently.

Now, before we get onto the Mutant Mass flavour review, let’s check out each key ingredient in a bit more detail to see how it can help you pack on pounds of lean muscle mass.

Mutant Mass Gainer Ingredients

Protein Blend (56g per serving): Mutant Mass Gainer contains a blend of whey protein concentrate, whey protein isolate, and micellar casein. This blend provides a full spectrum of essential amino acids and fast-acting proteins to foster muscle growth and recovery.

  • Whey Protein Concentrate: Contributes to muscle protein synthesis and overall muscle mass development.
  • Whey Protein Isolate: Faster absorption rate, providing a rapid source of protein post-workout when your muscles are screaming for amino acids.
  • Micellar Casein: A slow-digesting protein that ensures a sustained release of amino acids, supporting muscle recovery and preventing muscle breakdown.

Carbohydrate Blend (192g per serving): A mix of maltodextrin, waxy maize starch, barely starch, sweet potato, and rolled oats, proving rapid glycogen replenishment as well as sustained energy.

  • Maltodextrin and Waxy Maize Starch: Fast-absorbing carbohydrates that replenish glycogen stores and help with protein uptake.
  • Sweet potato and Oats: Provides a sustained energy supply by slowly releasing glucose into the bloodstream.
The Mutant Mass scoop size

Fat Blend (12g per serving): Mutant Mass weight gainer includes healthy MCTs (Medium Chain Triglycerides) from coconut oil, as well as avocado, flaxseed, pumpkin seed, and sunflower oil.

  • MCTs: They are easily absorbed and used as energy, supporting endurance and potentially aiding in weight management.
  • Calorie Dense: Fats contain 9 calories per gram (protein and carbs contain 4 calories per gram), making them perfect for any mass gain shake.

In addition to these key ingredients, Mutant Mass Gainer also offers 26.1g of EAAs (Essential Amino Acids) and 12.2g of BCAAs (Branched-Chain Amino Acids) per serving. These further support muscle growth, recovery, and overall gym performance.

Mutant Mass Taste and Mixability

A person making a Mutant Mass Gainer shake for their review

I’ve personally tried Mutant Mass in Strawberry Banana and Triple Chocolate, but I’ve also heard good things about the Vanilla and Cookies & Cream flavours in the various Mutant Mass reviews that I read.

So, here’s a Mutant Mass taste review.

Honestly, for such a high-calorie gainer, Mutant Mass tastes amazing, and I don’t say that often when talking about weight gainers.

As Mutant Mass has been on the shelves since 2005, the team over at Mutant has had a lot of time to gather feedback from Mutant Mass flavour reviews and develop a genuinely tasty mass gainer that people love to drink.

A bag of chocolate Mutant Mass next to a scoop and a blender jug

This Mutant Mass protein powder tastes fantastic with water and is truly incredible with milk. Yes, It’s actually kind of like a chocolate milkshake, except it’s way better for hypertrophy, and you look way more badass drinking it.

As for mixability, I had the best results with a blender when using the recommended 4 scoops. This is because you’ll need between 750 ml and 1 litre of water, which is too much liquid for a standard shaker bottle (luckily, I have shaker bottles in larger sizes from all of my supplement testing!).

So, that was my Mutant Mass Chocolate review. If you’ve tried the other flavours, then definitely let me know what you think. I just like to play it safe with Strawberry or Chocolate usually!

Mutant Mass Effectiveness

You might be wondering how effective Mutant Mass is for putting on weight and muscle. Well, like any supplement, its effectiveness depends on how consistently you take it and how hard you train, in addition to the amount of muscle you have left to gain.

Mutant Mass nutrition info

The main benefit of Mutant Mass is its calorie-dense formula, which can make it easier for you to meet your daily calorie requirements and put on the weight that you desire.

In their Mutant Mass reviews, many users reported an increase in strength and muscle growth after taking the supplement for just a couple of months.

Obviously, if you’re relatively new to bodybuilding and still have a lot of muscle left to gain, you’re going to gain more lean mass than a bodybuilder who’s closing in on their genetic limitations.

Ultimately, Mutant Mass contains just the right amount of calories for a hardgainer to pack on muscle and transform their physique. All you need to do is get in the gym and stimulate your muscles with hard and heavy training.

And if you want to achieve the best mutant mass before and after transformation possible, be sure to check out the next section of my Mutant Mass protein review to learn the best time to take this heavyweight shake.

When To Take Mutant Mass For The Best Results

Instructions on how to use Mutant Mass (mix 4 scoops with 750ml of water)

For best results, Mutant recommends taking one full serving (4 scoops) immediately after your workout on training days and another between meals or at breakfast time.

On rest days, I recommend sticking to one serving, which you can split into two separate shakes.

Also, if this is your first weight gainer, I recommend starting with half a serving (2 scoops) because drinking 1100 calories can be a shock to the stomach initially. However, this is somewhat less of a problem with Mutant Mass because it contains digestive enzymes.

With that said, you can take Mutant Mas any time of the day.

Before Training: While you can drink Mutant Mass pre-workout to fuel your training, you probably don’t want 1100 calories sloshing in your stomach before smashing something like legs or back.

After Training: Taking Mutant Mass immediately after your workout helps to kickstart the recovery process and stimulate hypertrophy. During this time, your muscles are in a prime state to absorb nutrients, so having a serving of Mutant Mass supplies your body with the protein, carbohydrates, and essential amino acids that will ultimately lead to mass gain.

Between Meals: If you're struggling to meet your daily calorie and macronutrient goals, drinking Mutant Mass between your regular meals can make a big difference to your results. It's a convenient, high-calorie supplement that you can easily take to work or school, and it tastes way better than water.

Before Bed: Your body undergoes a lot of muscle repair and growth while you're sleeping, but there’s always the risk of you going catabolic as well. Consuming Mutant Mass before bedtime (or just after your evening meal) provides your body with plenty of overnight fuel so that you don’t fall into a state of protein breakdown.

Mutant Mass Side Effects

One of the most common Mutant Mass side effects is general stomach discomfort and bloating. Although this highly effective supplement now contains digestive enzymes, some people might feel really full after drinking this Mutant Mass weight gainer, as if they’ve just been to a buffet.

Another potential Mutant Mass side effect is fat gain (although this is more a result of overeating in general rather than the supplement itself). While Mutant recommends having two 4-scoop servings per day, you also need to factor in your own macronutrient and caloric requirement.

For example, I don’t need tons of calories to gain weight, so I’d just have one Mutant Mass serving each day after my workout.

Obviously, if you’re a big guy or have a really hard time gaining weight, then you mighty do great on two full servings each day. And anyway, most people are going to gain some body fat during a bulk; it’s just part of natural bodybuilding.

It's worth mentioning that Mutant Mass is not gluten-free, which can be problematic if you have gluten intolerance or celiac disease. In this case, it's best to select an alternative product that caters to your dietary restrictions.

You can also check out my BSN True Mass Gainer reviews page if you want to see how this Mutant Mass shake compares to another popular gainer.

Mutant Mass vs Whey Protein

Should you take Mutant Mass or whey protein? This one’s simple.

If you’re able to consume ample calories through your regular diet, stick with a basic protein powder like Mutant Whey.

If, however, you struggle to take in sufficient calories from your food, then I highly recommend giving Mutant Mass a try to see the weight gain results for yourself.

You won’t need to use protein powder while taking Mutant Mass because it has nearly 60g of protein per serving, which is plenty for most people.

The only real advantage of whey protein over Mutant Mass is that protein powder is easier to drink, and you can easily make it up in a standard shaker bottle.

FAQ

What Is The Best Mutant Mass Flavour?

For me, the best Mutant Mass flavour is Triple Chocolate because it tastes like a delicious milkshake. Also, unlike other mass gainers, Mutant Mass tastes great with water as well as milk, which is a big plus for me.

I really enjoyed the Strawberry Banana flavour as well, but as a chocolate lover, I have to give the edge to their Triple Chocolate flavour.

Does Mutant Mass Have Creatine?

No, Mutant Mass doesn’t contain any creatine. This is actually a benefit because it enables you to take your creatine separately, customise your intake, and select your own quality supplement.

Is Mutant Mass Bad For You?

No, Mutant Mass is not bad for you because it’s batch-tested by Informed Sport and contains quality ingredients that support healthy weight gain. Obviously, if used in excess, then Mutant Mass—like any other weight gainer—could lead to unwanted fat gain.

Additionally, it appears that Mutant Mass does contain some artificial flavouring.

What Is The Scoop Size For Mutant Mass?

The scoop size for Mutant Mass is approximately 70 grams. It’s recommended to have 2-4 scoops in each shake to enjoy the best effects of this Mutant Mass weight gainer.

How Much Protein Is In One Scoop of Mutant Mass?

One scoop of Mutant Mass contains 14g of protein. Obviously, if you take the recommended serving size, then you’re going to be getting plenty more protein than that.

Where Can I Buy Mutant Mass?

As you probably know, we focus on the UK market. So if you’re based in Britain, you can get the best price on Mutant Mass here.

However, we know that we have readers in Europe and North America as well. So if you’re based in the US, you can find Mutant Mass at the lowest price here.

The Verdict: Is Mutant Mass Gainer Good For Bulking Up?

Triple Chocolate Mutant Mass Protein Powder

If you're seeking a reliable weight gainer to help you bulk up, Mutant Mass Gainer might just be the supplement for you. With its calorie-dense, high-protein formula, this hardcore weight gainer contains everything you need to pack on mass and make a complete body transformation.

Unlike other mass gainers that rely purely on maltodextrin to inflate their carb numbers, Mutant Mass Gainer also contains waxy maize starch as well as sweet potato and oats.

This results in fast-acting glycogen when you need it (post-workout), but also a sustained energy release to keep you going throughout the day.

While Mutant Mass Gainer is an undeniably useful addition to your supplement stack, it's important to remember that it's not a standalone miracle worker. You still need to eat healthy whole foods, train hard, and exercise your patience.

As I said throughout my Mutant Mass gainer review, this supplement is legit, but you need to take it consistently and put in the work.
