If you're on the lookout for the best protein powder for gaining weight, you may well have come across JYM Mass Gainer, created by Dr. Jim Stoppani. This scientifically-formulated supplement has been praised by users and experts alike for its superior formulation that combines precise protein, carb, and fat ratios for building lean muscle mass.

Unlike other carb-heavy weight gainers, JYM Mass Gainer has a unique 1:1 ratio of protein to carbs, ensuring that you have enough calories to put on lean mass without piling on the fat as well.

Additionally, the blend of low-glycemic and high-glycemic carbs in the formula helps your body to efficiently utilise the nutrients for muscle growth. In other words, no crazy insulin spikes that trigger unwanted fat gain.

But, like any supplement, there are both pros and cons. So in this detailed JYM mass gainer review, you’ll learn if Dr. Jim Stoppani’s science-backed shake is worth its hefty price tag.

Mass JYM Mass Gainer Nutrition Facts

The Mass JYM supplement facts

The key to Mass JYM's effective lean-gaining formula is its 1:1 ratio of protein to carbs. This ratio, which is quite unusual for a mass gainer, ensures that you're getting the right balance of nutrients to support muscle growth without gaining excessive body fat.

  • Calories: 270 per 73g serving
  • Protein: 30 grams (from 15 grams of casein, 12 grams of whey, and 3 grams of egg)
  • Carbohydrates: 30 to 34 grams (both high and low-glycemic)
  • Fats: 3.5g from a non-proprietary healthy fat source
  • Sugars: 10g

To keep your gains lean and steady, Mass JYM avoids adding excessive carbs or unhealthy fats. Of course, you could argue that real hardgainers might be able to benefit from using a mass gainer with a higher carb content.

The ingredients in Mass Jym mass gainer

As for protein, I particularly like that Mass JYM doesn’t just use whey or, even worse, soy protein. The 30g blend looks like this: 50% casein, 40% whey, and 10% egg whites.

Another point is that this mass gainer doesn’t contain creatine, allowing you to manage your creatine intake separately if desired.

So, while Mass JYM might not suit the hardest of hardgainers, you can’t fault the quality nutritional profile and attention to detail.

JYM Mass Gainer Ingredient Breakdown

In this section of my JYM Mass review, I'll take a closer look at the key components of the JYM Mass Gainer supplement and see how they can benefit you in your quest for muscle growth and strength.

30g Protein Blend

The protein in JYM mass gainer

While many mass gainers have more than 30g of protein per serving, they often inflate their numbers by using lower-quality protein like soy. Also, they might have more protein than Mass JYM, but you’ll be using 3-5 times as much powder in order to get that protein.

Pro JYM Mass Gainer contains 50% casein, 40% whey, and 10% egg white protein. So you’re getting a rapid release of amino acids when your muscles really need it, but you’re also getting amino acids “drip-fed” over a longer time period thanks to the casein.

Here's a breakdown of the protein sources in JYM Mass Gainer:

  • Whey Protein: Known for its rapid absorption, it delivers a quick dose of amino acids to your muscles.
  • Micellar Casein: Provides a sustained amino acid release, helping your body to stay in an anabolic state for longer.
  • Egg White Protein: Another quality protein source that bodybuilders swear by for gaining size.

30g of Carbs

The carbs contained inside the Mass JYM formula

JYM Mass Gainer provides you with 30 grams of carbohydrates per serving, which are in a 3:1 ratio of low-glycemic to high-glycemic. This way, you do get fast-acting carbs, which is useful after training, but you also don’t get needlessly high insulin spikes, which are no good when you’re lean bulking.

The carbohydrates in this shake play a crucial role in fuelling your muscles with glycogen—keeping them full and pumped—and increasing your energy levels for your workouts.

With that said, I do think that hardgainers could benefit from more than 30g of carbs per serving and a higher carb-to-protein ratio. Sure, you could certainly double-up on servings of this JYM weight gainer, but then you might be getting more protein than you need.

3.5g of Fat

The JYM Mass Gainer contains 3.5 grams of fat per serving, coming from a non-proprietary healthy fat source. Specifically, the formula is broken down into equal amounts of saturated, monosaturated, and polyunsaturated fats.

Fat is often misunderstood as detrimental; however, it's an important macronutrient, especially for those aiming at muscle growth and strength. Consuming healthy fats supports hormone production, reduces inflammation, and provides a long-lasting energy source for your body.

Mass JYM Taste and Mixing

Me making a shake for my JYM Mass Gainer review

As you explore the various Mass JYM reviews, you'll find that almost every user loves the taste of this shake (which is pretty rare for a mass gainer, let me tell you).

With Mass JYM, you have a variety of flavours to choose from. One popular option is the Chocolate Mousse flavour, which has received a 4.6 out of 5 rating online. Another well-received flavour is the Apple Fritter, which is a unique flavour for a protein-based nutritional shake.

When it comes to mixing this Mass JYM protein powder, customer reviews on the official JYM Supplement Science website suggest that the product mixes well into smooth shakes.

I agree.

Personally, I thought it was slightly on the thick side, so you may want to add a bit more liquid than suggested if you prefer a thinner consistency.

Regardless of your preferred mixing method—blender or shaker bottle—Mass JYM is easy to mix and doesn’t cause any significant clumping or residue build-up.

Who Should Buy Mass JYM?

If you're looking to gain lean muscle mass and are particular about the types of nutrients you consume, Mass JYM could be an excellent choice for you. This supplement is developed with a careful balance of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats, which is perfect for those who want to be precise during their lean gaining phase.

As someone who wants to monitor their macronutrient intake closely, Mass JYM offers you full transparency about its ingredients. By consuming Mass JYM, you'll know exactly what types of protein, carbohydrates and fats you're adding to your diet, as well as their ratios to one another.

The Mass JYM mass gainer scoop size

In the Mass JYM protein blend, Dr. Jim Stoppani includes 15g of casein, 12g of whey, and 3g of egg, which ensures a fast yet steady supply of amino acids.

Depending on the flavour, you’ll get between 30g and 34g of carbs, leading to a 1:1 carb-to-protein ratio.

The minimal fat that is included consists of quality sources, like CLA. Overall, every ingredient is well thought out, and Mass JYM is a testament to the attention to detail that Dr. Jim Stoppani puts into his supplements.

Who Shouldn't Buy Mass JYM?

If you’re on a tight budget, Mass JYM might not be your best option because it’s fairly pricey. While Mass JYM contains undeniably high-quality ingredients and a unique blend of proteins, the cost, for some people, might understandably be too much for a single supplement.

Additionally, if you need an extremely high-calorie supplement to facilitate your weight gain process, Mass JYM—at just 270 calories—might not be the best choice. Although it provides a great mix of quality protein, carbohydrates, and fats, it may not offer the sheer number of calories that a hardgainer needs to pack on mass.

But, then again, if you're eating plenty of whole foods as well, Mass JYM could be the weight gain catalyst that your body was looking for.

Still, if you're not too particular about the precise ingredient ratios of proteins, carbs, and fats, you might find other mass gainers that suit your needs just as well. After all, when you’re bulking and trying to gain size, do you really need to be extra precise with your macros?

Mass JYM is known for its careful balance of nutrients, but it's important to remember that for many people, simply consuming a surplus of calories combined with a good, balanced diet and workout routine will be enough to see progress.

JYM Mass Gainer Review: The Verdict

The Mass JYM Nutrition facts

As noted throughout this JYM Mass Gainer review, this weight gainer is a solid choice for those looking to gain lean muscle mass. Its 1:1 ratio of carbs to protein and patent-pending fat blend make it unique among its competitors.

With 15g of casein, 12g of whey, and 3g of egg protein, your muscles won’t be going hungry because of the consistent amino acid release. Additionally, the fat blend includes healthy options such as CLA and MCTs, which can help support fat loss and metabolism.

A noteworthy advantage of JYM Mass Gainer is its variety of flavours. The Apple Fritter flavour is a particularly intriguing choice, and the Chocolate Mousse flavour receives positive reviews with a 4.6 out of 5 rating. If you're tired of the typical chocolate or vanilla options, JYM might be the mass gainer for you.

So, although this Mass JYM protein powder might not be calorie-dense enough for some people (easy fix: Have two servings per day), it’s for sure a great lean-gaining supplement. I’d check out some other gainers, read some more Mass JYM reviews, and see which supplement fits your needs the best.
