This popular weight gain protein powder is loaded with carbs, making it ideal for post-workout consumption, when your depleted muscles are most in need of glycogen. 

Although the nutrition profile seems good, some users have mentioned issues with mixing the product, so make sure you have an effective method for blending to get the most out of it.

This Dymatize mass gainer is packed with calories. But, then again, so is junk food. So let’s see if these ingredients stand up to my stringent British scrutiny.

In this section of my Dymatize mass gainer review, I’ll take a look at each key ingredient in more detail to see how effective this supplement really is.

52g of Protein

The amino acid composition of Dymatize Super Mass Gainer

Dymatize Super Mass Gainer gives us a sizeable 52g protein serving, which is more than most weight gainers. I also like how Dymatize uses a variety of protein sources—whey isolate, whey concentrate, milk protein isolate, whey hydrolysate, and casein—to provide a sustained amino acid release.

Still, to say that this shake is a mammoth 1,280 calories, you could argue that the protein content should be higher. It’s the same story with Rule 1 Mass Gainer, which has 1200 calories and only 40g of protein.

11g of BCAAs

With 11g of naturally occurring BCAAs, you never have to worry about optimally stimulating muscle protein synthesis (MPS) when you’re drinking this Dymatize weight gainer.

As some customers noted in their Dymatize Super Mass Gainer reviews, it actually has more branched-chain amino acids than many specialised BCAA supplements. That’s impressive!

243g of Carbs

With a growth-stimulating dose of 243g of carbohydrates per serving, Dymatize Super Mass Gainer is designed to provoke big increases in body mass. We need plenty of carbohydrates to replenish our muscle glycogen stores, which is important for recovery and maintaining full muscles.

However, I do get the feeling that we’re paying for a lot of unnecessary carbs. I mean, the carbs-to-protein ratio is almost 5:1, which is far from optimal, even for hardcore bulking.

8g of Fat

The 8g of fat in each serving contributes to the overall calorie content (fats have 9 calories per gram!) and provides an additional source of energy. Although fat is necessary for optimal health, it's important to remember that moderation is key.

Some flavours might have 10g of fat. But honestly, the difference is small, so just go with whatever flavour takes your fancy.

3g of Creatine

Ah, creatine. It’s great anywhere but a mass gainer or protein shake. But hey, if you like creatine in your gainer, I’m not here to judge.

Dymatize Super Mass Gainer includes 3g of creatine per serving, which is known to improve short bursts of high-intensity training by enabling you to perform more reps. This extra strength and strength endurance helps you to gain muscle mass and set new PRs.

It’s worth noting that some supplement stores list the creatine at 1g per serving (my tub says 3 grams). Either way, I wish there was zero creatine, as, like most lifters, I prefer to take my creatine separately.

5 Vitamins + Minerals

This mass gainer also contains 5 essential vitamins—vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin B6, and vitamin B12. These vitamins contribute to better overall health, support immune system function, and, in turn, enhance your body's ability to gain mass.

There are also various minerals like potassium, magnesium, iodine, and sodium, making Super Mass Gainer by Dymatize a very well-rounded shake.

Naturally, using milk increases the calorie count and enhances the shake's taste, but water works just as well for lactose-sensitive individuals.

3. Shake it up: For the best consistency, mix your Super Mass Gainer with the liquid in a blender (not a shaker bottle, there’s too much powder). Ensure that it’s thoroughly blended, as clumps will not only be unpleasant but can also reduce the effectiveness of the product.

4. Timing: The ideal time to consume your Super Mass Gainer shake is post-workout when your body requires calorie-dense nutrition to repair and build muscle. However, you can also use it as a supplement between meals, depending on your specific weight gain goals.

You simply cannot fit 300+ grams of mass gain powder and 700ml of liquid comfortably in a standard shaker bottle.

Now, if you just opt for half a serving, which still provides over 600 calories, then you won’t need an electric blender.

As a mass gainer, this product contains high amounts of carbohydrates, which can sometimes lead to bloating, stomach pain, nausea, and even diarrhoea in some rarer cases. To help minimise these side effects, you could:

How Many Scoops Of Dymatize Super Mass Gainer Should You Take?

To get the recommended serving size of 336g, you’ll need to mix around 3 scoops of this Dymatize Nutrition Super Mass Gainer. That’s a lot of powder, I know!

Is Dymatize Super Mass Gainer Good For Bulking Up?

Because it’s such a high-calorie shake, Super Mass Gainer by Dymatize is great for adding muscle mass to your physique. However, for some people, 1200 calories are actually excessive, especially if you’re not an extreme hardgainer.

Is Dymatize Super Mass Gainer Better Than ISO 100?

It's important to note that Dymatize Super Mass Gainer and ISO 100 serve different purposes and cater to different needs. While both help you gain muscle, Super Mass Gainer is far more calorie-dense than ISO 100, which contains 110 calories, 2.3g of carbs, and 25g of protein per 30g scoop.

ISO 100 is also way more protein-dense than Super Mass Gainer, which, in my opinion, has too many carbs and not enough protein.

Additionally, ISO 100 is much easier and quicker to mix in a regular shaker bottle.

Should You Add This Dymatize Mass Gainer To Your Supplement Stack?

Is this Dymatize Mass Gainer a good product for gaining size? Yes. But is it the best? I don’t think so.

As a former hardgainer, I’m all for high-calorie shakes. After all, if you’re struggling to gain weight, a few hundred surplus calories here and there probably isn’t going to cut it.

However, as I mentioned earlier in my Dymatize Super Mass Gainer review, this supplement has too many carbs. Sure, you can eat a high-carb diet, but almost nobody needs over 240g of carbs in a single shake.

So, while the taste is great and the chance of weight gain is high, I think that Super Mass Gainer would need a better carbs-to-protein ratio for it to be a strong recommendation. That said, if you’re personally seeing results from this supplement, then I see no reason to take it out of your stack.
